Corporate Planning & Budgeting

WellSpring now supports a fully integrated business planning workflow.

Beginning with detailed production and economic modeling at the project level the plan develops as it flows up through a visual consolidation network into a final corporate view.

This workflow dramatically reduces the time required to consolidate detailed development alternatives into a corporate plan. The benefit is improved forecasting capabilities leading to a comprehensive plan in less time with more extensive analysis of different development options.

This plan captures all risked or un-risked detailed plans, is easy to revise and update, and allows high-level analysis and sensitivities.

At the heart of the scalable planning capability in WellSpring is the Meta project - an asset that summarizes a WellSpring project or scenario and allows project results to be combined with results from other projects, wells or facilities.

Meta projects expand WellSpring’s planning capabilities in several ways:

  • Visualize all your corporate assets in one interactive view
  • Consolidate projects from diverse fiscal regimes
  • Generate and compare various strategic plans and contingencies
  • Manage thousands of wells at different levels of detail - well, field, project, business unit, etc
  • Sensitize global variables such as price, risk factors and timing
  • Recalculate tax at the corporate level
  • Meta Projects are an archive (snap-shot) of the included projects value
  • Archived results allow for project look-backs

WellSpring is Internet Explorer 7 Ready
In October, Microsoft® officially released their first major revision to Internet Explorer in nearly five years. We have been testing IE7 with WellSpring for the last several months, and give it a thumb’s up!

What does IE7 offer over IE6? Usability is greatly improved, with tabbed browsing and improved printing being most noticeable. Under the hood, IE7 introduces improved security features, including a new phishing filter that dynamically checks the validity of websites.

For most people, IE7 will be automatically offered as part of the Windows update service in early November. You can also download the program from the Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com/ie) and manually install it.
