 CBM Development Optimization Example

This page will give you a walkthrough of a sample CBM Optimization project.

The first step is to create the network.  Below is a network with the asset subtype indicated beside each asset.  It consists of a combination of 8 facilities, and 3 gas type wells (See Using a Type Well).  For the time being, only create the facilities, and Type Well CBM_A.

Data Entry - Type Wells

For all 3 type wells, the asset start date needs to be changed from Jan. 2010 to Jan. 2013.  This is easily done from the general data section in the network tab:

Type Well CBM_A

This type well's decline set consists of a 4-segment gas decline and a 2-segment water decline (See
Creating Multi-Segment Declines).  Ensure that you have each method correct before filling in the rest.

Type Well CBM_B

This well is easily created from the Network tab.  Since its declines are identical to Type Well CBM_A, we can use the [Copy Asset] function found in the Current Asset Data portion of the network tab:

Be sure to change the name after the copy.

Type Well CBM_C

This well also uses the same decline set, so it can be created via the copy asset function mentioned above.  Be sure to change the name after the copy.

Facilities

Pipelines

Drilling Program - 1 (ALL) pipeline to 'East 1'
East 1 - 1(ALL) pipeline to 'Dehydrator'.
Dehydrator - 1(Water) pipeline to 'Water disposal' ; 1(REMAIN) pipeline to 'Extraction'.
Extraction - 1(FLUIDS) pipeline to 'NGL Sales' ; 1 (REMAIN) pipeline to 'Compressor'.
Compressor - 1(ALL) Gas Sales

Other Data

NGL Sales - This asset is a Sales Point (See Current Asset Data).
Gas Sales - This asset is a Sales Point.

Scheduler Tasks

Resources
- (See Scheduler Resources)
Firstly, we must make resources for our scheduler tasks.  We will need three resources:
NAME                            Capabilities                        Availibility                                Repeat:
-Precision Rig A                Drilling                            Forever (2010-9999)                     1
-Precision Rig B             Drilling/Completion              06/01/2010 - 12/01/2010            100
-Frac Spread 1                Work Type 3                      Forever (2010-9999)                     1

Drilling Program

Create a Drilling Program and name it 'CBM Drilling Program'.  This program will have two well tasks, each with two steps (See Creating a Drilling Program).

The first well task has the following information:

General:

Step 1:

Step 2:

The second well task has the following information:

General:

Step 1 and step 2 are the same as the previous task, see above.
