Compression

When working with the gas pressure model (See Hydraulic flow Models), you are able to model compression in the flow network.

The compression dialog can be used to model a compressor, or a fixed pressure drop for any other facility.

To specify compression, highlight the facility in either the Network tab, or Data tab then:

  1. Select "Compression"
  2. Enter compression table values to define the compressor curves.

The following options can be used to specify the facility:

Fixed Sales Pressure: This will force a fixed negative pressure drop across the facility.  Use this for modeling the pressure drop across a choke, manifold, dehydrator, or even a pipeline. NOTE: It should not be used for a compressor.

Maximum Discharge Pressure, Fixed Suction Pressure and Maximum horsepower: You can use this option to model a simple compressor.  Any values that are zero will be ignored.  You can specify any two of the three values, or just the horsepower, or just the Discharge pressure.

Pressures, Horsepower and Flow Rates:  You can specify a series of curves with this option, specifying the discharge pressure, flow rate, and suction pressure.
