Specifying a Constraint
Editing or Viewing all Constraints
Understanding Curtailment

WellSpring is a unique application in that it allows you to specify any production constraints in your network.  For example, if your facility can only handle X mcf/d of gas, and your wells can deliver more, then the wells will be "choked back" to reduce the production so they do not exceed the capacity of the facility.

Constrained facilities will have a box drawn around them (red=gas, green=oil, blue=water, light blue=steam) provided that the "Highlight Constraints" flag is checked on the data layers (options to the right of the Network diagram).

The plot below shows the unconstrained production capability at the plant.

Here is the same plot, but with the constraint honored

Note: An asset without a pipeline will "flow" to the scenario by default.  If you have a future pipeline, you must also put an initial constraint of zero to ensure that the asset does not flow prior to the pipeline connection.
