Dates

Project start Year

This is the earliest date that any data (production, opex, capex etc) can exist in any assets in the project. Projects start only in January; although the evaluation date can be any month (see below)

Note: The start month is always January and can not be changed. You can start an evaluation by changing the Evaluation date (see below).

Evaluation date

This is the reporting date. Once calculations are done, they are reported from this date forward. All data prior to this date is ignored. As the calculations are done from an earlier date, the affect of capital depreciation and tax carry forward is still honoured.

Real Dollar Date

This is the start date for any inflation or escalation that is set up for your projects.

Discount Date

Discounting on cash flow streams can be brought to any point in time. This date determines the date that any discounting is referenced to.

Dates Can be accessed via the “Project Data” Screen (menu: Data – Project Data, or Ctl-P)

New Project Dates

Dates for new projects (Discount and Real Dollar Dates) are set in the Global Options

The project start date for new project defaults to the current year. This can be changed via the project data screen above

(menu:Tools – Options)

Asset Start Date

Asset start dates can be changed via the Asset – General link (or the Data tab). The Asset Start Date determines the earliest date the data can be entered. Note that the asset start date cannot be set earlier than the project start date above.

Example

The following example shows a timeline with an Asset start date of 2009 (January), but an evaluation date of June 2009. Any data prior to June 2009 (with the exception of capital for depreciation calculations) will be ignored.
