WellSpring allows you to put in dates via the calendar control, or through manual entry.
Note that there are numerous allowed date formats which can be selected using the Tools>Options menu
It is suggested that, in collaborations between countries it may be advantageous to use one of the two options where the month is represented by three letters rather than numerically.
If you are using the manual entry, an invalid date will be shown in red as illustrated below:
