Project Consolidation and Meta Projects

WellSpring allows you naturally consolidate wells and facilities through a single project, as well as allows you aggregate these projects to a higher level using meta-projects. A meta-project is a project that links in other WellSpring projects, but can also have its own assets as well.

To Create a Meta Project:

  1. Select File - New Volumetric Project (this will create your "container" project)
  2. Set the project model to "Project Link Tax Rollup" (General Project settings see General Data / Project Data)
  3. Create the flow network just as you would a regular project.  Note: that you can create a logical flow network of value - it doesn't have to be a physical pipeline network.

To Link in Other Projects:

  1. Create new linked assets (New Link button, or Main Menu - Asset - New Asset - New Project Link)

  2. Connect these assets to your logical network to consolidate values with pipelines
  3. Establish the link to your projects by clicking on the "..." under the "Current Asset Data"

  4. Choose a single scenario to bring in from the project
  5. Set the production and cash multiplier values (optional)

To Calculate the Meta Project:

Unlike regular WellSpring projects, meta-projects must first calculate the linked projects before it brings in results to the container project.  After the links are calculated, the container project should be calculated.

  1. Calculate the project links

  2. Calculate the container project

  3. Report results

All of the main WellSpring functionality (Network reporting, main reporting etc) is available to a meta-project.

Note: If you make changes to a single project, only that project link needs to be calculated.  See "recalculate" button below under "Current Asset Data"

Project Dates in Linked Assets

When linking projects to assets, the start date of the linked project should always have a start month of January (the default for projects), unless you want the data to be shifted.  In the example below, the warning shows up under the current asset data (to the right of the Network view).  This project is being shifted by four months.

Refer to Dates for a discussion on dates in WellSpring.
