WellSpring Menus

This section describes each of the main menu items in WellSpring.

File - Allows you to optionally save, or load to a file on your hard drive.
 

You might want to save to file if you want a physical file on your local network or machine.  WellSpring files are created by default with a *.WSP project extension.  WSP files can be opened from file.  You need to save "Project - Save" to subsequently save the project to the database on Enersight's servers.

Project


- Allows you to create a new project
- Save Project to Database: If you load a project from file, you must save it to database if you want it in the database.
- Rename Project: Changes the current project name
- Delete Project will delete the current project
- Share Project: Allows you to create a read-only version of your project that you can share with non-WellSpring users.  See Collaboration - Sharing WellSpring Results

Scenario



- New Scenario: Creates a new scenario by copying your current scenario.  See Scenario Analysis.
- Copy Scenario: Creates a new blank scenario. 
- Rename Scenario: Changes the name of the current scenario.
- Delete Scenario: Deletes the current scenario.

*Note: if you get a scripting error from Internet Explorer see: the IE options for scripted windows in IE Options

Asset


- An Asset is any well or Facility
- The Asset menu allows you to add, copy and delete assets.
- Delete asset and its children will delete all assets upstream of the current asset.
- Copy Asset from another project allows you to select a well from another project (say a type well) and copy to your current project.


Data




- Data give you access to all of the data for the currently selected asset.  See Data Entry for more information on this data.

These data items are also available from the "URL" Menus below the main menu:



Share


- Share Asset in All Scenarios will share the current asset across all scenarios.
- Unshare Asset will break the sharing link between scenarios for the current asset. This would be used when doing "what-if" analysis in scenarios.  See Shared Vs Unshared Assets.


Layout


Layout allow you to change how your flow network is shown in the network diagram.

- Reset Network View - Will restore the original automatically layout view.
- Center Current Asset - Will redraw the diagram centered on the currently selected asset.
- Zoom to Show All Assets - Will zoom out to fit everything on the diagram.
- Collapse All Wells - Will collapse all wells in the diagram leaving just the facilities (can significantly clean up a busy flow diagram)
- Expand All Assets - Will expand any assets that have been collapsed.
- Auto-Arrange all Assets - Will auto-arrange all assets.
- Auto-Arrange all Wells - Will leave the facilities in place, but will auto-arrange the wells.
- Clear Auto-Added Locations - Will delete any assets created by the scheduler.  You might do this to clean-up the interface, or make the file smaller if you have a large asset count and are looking to save your project to a file.
- Synchronize All Scenarios - Will match your current view across your other scenarios.
- Synchronize Current Asset - Will mirror the view of your current asset across your other scenarios.


Calcs


The Calc menu dictates how the project is calculated. See Calculation Options for a description of options.

- Calculate - No Constraints - Will run the calculations ignoring all constraints in the model.
- Calculate - No Downtime - Will run the calculations ignoring any specified Downtime
- Calculate - No Downtime or Constraints - Will run the calculations ignoring any specified Downtime and constraints.
- Calculate - No Economic Limit - Will run the calculations without any economic limit.
- ReCalculate All Project Links - Will calculate projects linked into a meta-project. (See Project Consolidation and Meta Projects)

Tools



Bulk Data Edit - Allows you to Bulk edit items such as economic limit flags, and Ps, Po settings.  See Bulk Edit below.
Drilling Optimization - Allows you to schedule wells in time based on product constraints.  Useful for SAGD well scheduling where you have oil and steam capacities.  See SAGD and CSS Example
Export to Aries - Allows you to export WellSpring projects to Aries.
Export to Peep - Allows you to export WellSpring projects to Peep.
Import from CSV - Allows you to load data for your project directly from Excel.  See Importing Data into WellSpring - CSV file
OFM Link Manager - Allows you to link to OFM, and bring in well production forecasts.  See Using Forecasts from OFM
Project Consolidations - Allows you to create a consolidation of multiple projects.
Purchase Price - Will perform bid curve calculations for asset purchase decisions.
Risk & Sensitivity - Allows you to run risk and Sensitivity calculations.  See Risk and Sensitivity Analysis
Monte Carlo Analysis - Allows you to run Monte Carlo simulations on your WellSpring project.
Toggle Units - Will switch between US and Metric units for data entry and display.
Toggle Scale - Will switch between standard and larger units for display and data entry.
Options - Set's your user specific options such as calculation model, dates and discount rates.  See Options 

Bulk Edit



Make All Assets Chokable - Sets the "Chokable" flag on all assets (Applicable only for Hydraulic Flow models)  See Hydraulic flow Models
Make All Wells Chokable - Sets the "Chokable" flag on all assets (Applicable only for Hydraulic Flow models)  See Hydraulic flow Models
Remove All Econ Limit Checks - Removes "Economic limit" flag for all assets. See Economic Limit
Set All Econ Limit Checks - Sets "Economic limit" flag for all assets. See Economic Limit
Set all Ps & Po to Before - Sets the risk setting for all assets to "Before".  See Ps Vs Po (Exposed Capital)
Set all Ps & Po to After - Sets the risk setting for all assets to "Before".  See Ps Vs Po (Exposed Capital)
Set Shrinkage % in inflowing wells - Sets the shrinkage value for all inflowing wells to current asset.  (See Byproducts) 
Set Ethane Ratio in inflowing wells - Sets the Ethane yield value for all inflowing wells to current asset.  (See Byproducts) 
Copy ByProduct Ratios from Current well to Siblings wells - Will copy the byproduct ratios from the current well into all wells flowing into the same asset.   (See Byproducts) 
Set Land Inheritance for all inflowing assets to this asset - Will set the "Inherit Land From" flag to the current Asset.  See Land


Admin


Account Management - See Account Management 
Capital Definitions - Allows you view (and edit if you have administrative access) the capital categories for your company.  See Capital Definitions
Currencies - Allows you to edit currency exchange rates if you are using multiple currencies.
Economic Models - Allows you view (and edit if you have administrative access) the economic model settings for your company.  See Economic Models
Escalation Sets - Allows you view (and edit if you have administrative access) the Escalation documents for your company.  See Escalation Sets 
Manage Production History - If you have production history imported, you can manage the data here.
Opcost Definitions - Allows you view (and edit if you have administrative access) the operating cost definitions for your company.  See Opcost Definitions
Price Sets - Allows you view (and edit if you have administrative access) the price documents for your company. See Price Sets

Scenario Asset Filters -
Units - Allows you to edit the default unit definitions in WellSpring.  See Units in Calculations
User Defined Data (Company Level) - Allows you to add user defined fields for your company (visible to all users).  See User Data

Help

- Loads this file in your browser.

Logout

- Logs out of your current session.
